About the author
Dr. Calhoun was born in Marianna, Fla., earned his B.S. in Pre-Med from Florida A&M University in 1954, served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, and obtained his M.D. from Meharry Medical College in 1963. After completing his surgical residency at Howard University, he became board-certified in surgery and served as an Emeritus Clinical Associate Professor at Howard. As Medical Director in Emergency Preparedness for Washington, D.C.'s Department of Health, he authored key health plans and earned a Master's in Biohazardous Threat Agents from Georgetown in 2007.
