SAN DIEGO, Jan. 16, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- , a leader in drone detection and airspace security, today announced it has renewed its partnership with the Farmers Insurance Open for the third consecutive year. The partnership ensures comprehensive airspace protection for all players, staff, spectators and sponsors during the PGA TOUR golf tournament, to be held January 22-25 at Torrey Pines Golf Course.
SkySafe's advanced detection technology plays a vital role in addressing the growing challenges of drone threats across the country and at major sporting events, where unauthorized drones pose increasing security concerns and operational risks. The company will provide the Farmers Insurance Open with a reliable airspace security solution that requires no hardware or infrastructure investment.
"We recognize that major events like the Farmers Insurance Open attract large crowds from across the globe, making safety a number one priority," said Melissa Swisher, Chief Revenue Officer at SkySafe. "With our technology, tournament organizers gain real-time visibility into potential aerial threats, such as rogue drones on the course, enabling rapid responses to unauthorized activity. We're honored to support the tournament's security efforts and play a key role in protecting everyone in attendance."
Like the previous years, SkySafe's cloud-based drone detection software will allow tournament organizers to easily whitelist approved drones, such as those used by Golf Channel and CBS for live broadcasts, so that only authorized media drones can operate without interference while still being monitored. The technology will also alert tournament organizers and the Unified Command team when unauthorized drones are detected, including their exact launch location. By sharing precise information, it will allow organizers to work directly with local law enforcement to locate drone operators and prevent any event disruptions.
"The safety of our players, fans, and sponsors is our top priority," said Andrew Harmatys, Chief Operating Officer for the Century Club of San Diego, which operates the Farmers Insurance Open. "We're proud to be among the leaders embracing drone detection technology to enhance safety at our tournament. SkySafe's solution has been a valuable addition to our event."
