SIP Global Partners Participates in $100M Round for EnCharge AI, Developer of the Most Advanced Analog In-Memory-Computing AI Chips
BOSTON, Feb. 13, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SIP Global Partners, a US-Japan VC firm investing in early-stage, sustainable deep tech, announced today its investment in EnCharge AI ("EnCharge"), developers of the most advanced analog in-memory-computing AI accelerator chips for client computing. The oversubscribed $100M Series B funding round led by Tiger Global included investment from SIP Global Partners, Samsung Ventures, RTX Ventures and Anzu Partners.
Cloud data centers handle most of today's AI inference computation and require superclusters of expensive, energy-intensive chips. This forces the scaling of conventional and generative AI inference workloads to be limited by energy availability and the cost of computational power. To service the demand for current and future generative AI applications, solutions that reduce the exponential energy demands of data centers are necessary.
EnCharge scales AI capability within a given power budget, enabling cutting-edge AI to be deployed to edge and client environments. Their compute architecture integrates analog processing and memory, enabling step-function reduction in energy usage against leading AI chips for a wide range of inference workloads. The core technology was developed through research at Princeton and peer-reviewed over seven years. Since company launch, the technology has been demonstrated across five generations of silicon.
"While we are very bullish on AI infrastructure across the spectrum, we believe that client-based inferencing is a critical, rapidly emerging sector," stated Jeffrey Smith, General Partner of SIP Global Partners. "We are confident that EnCharge's extremely productive and energy efficient solutions will lead the large-scale global adoption of distributed AI compute."
Other partners and investors include Samsung Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Samsung, as well as defense technology partners including RTX Ventures, a leading manufacturer of aerospace and defense systems and Constellation Technology Ventures, the nation's largest producer of clean energy.
"Our Series B is a pivotal milestone for the company that signals our readiness to bring our full stack AI solutions to market," said Naveen Verma, CEO and co-founder of EnCharge. "We are grateful to the fantastic group of investors who will help us unlock the potential of artificial intelligence for countless industries and applications in a way that is sustainable, cost-effective, and scalable."
The company will use the $100M Series B funding round to bring its first client computing AI accelerator products to market in 2025. Beyond initial products, EnCharge plans to rapidly expand an ambitious roadmap of products tacking AI compute from edge devices through data centers.
