Office romances spark as remote workers struggle with dating and consider in-person jobs to improve romantic prospects
SEATTLE, Feb. 13, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ResumeTemplates.com, the leading platform for free professional resume templates and examples, has released new findings from a February 2025 survey exploring the connection between workplace dynamics and romantic relationships. The survey of 912 U.S. workers who were single at some point in the past four years reveals that 38% of those who returned to the office have found love, and for 1 in 10, returning to in-person work was a key factor.
For many workers, returning to the office didn't just reshape their careers—it also expanded their social and dating lives. Whether it was meeting a coworker, connecting with someone during their commute, or striking up a conversation at a coffee shop or lunch spot, in-person work has facilitated more than just professional networking.
Meanwhile, remote workers report far greater struggles in the dating scene. Nearly 70% of remote workers surveyed are currently single, and more than half (58%) believe working from home is making it harder to meet potential partners. The lack of organic social interactions has even led some remote employees to reconsider their job choices, with 48% saying they are considering a position with in-office requirements to improve their dating prospects.
"Working from home has its perks, but it's isolating," says Fred T., a remote software engineer. "Before remote work, I met people naturally, but now I feel stuck. I've tried dating apps, but it's not the same as forming connections in person from the start."
This survey, conducted in February 2025 via Pollfish, gathered responses from 912 U.S. full-time workers aged 18 to 55 who had been single at some point in the past four years.
