Majority signal they will be stricter in 2025 about compliance
SEATTLE, Oct. 17, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ResumeTemplates.com, the leading platform for free professional resume templates and examples, has published a recent survey report examining the prevalence of ChatGPT use in the workplace and its positive impacts. In October, ResumeTemplates.com surveyed 713 business leaders at companies that have implemented a return-to-office (RTO) policy.
The survey highlights varying levels of compliance with RTO policies, with companies expressing different degrees of concern. Nearly 8% of companies report non-compliance as a major issue, 36% see it as a moderate concern, and 33% consider it a minor one. On the other hand, 23% say it's not an issue at all.
The findings also shed light on how employees are circumventing RTO requirements. The most common strategy, reported by 47% of companies, is simply not showing up on required days. Additionally, 40% say workers aren't staying for the full day. A smaller group (7%) report that employees manipulate swipe-in or sign-in systems to appear compliant. Looking ahead to 2025, 22% of companies say they will definitely enforce RTO more strictly, while 30% say they probably will.
"Companies are having trouble with RTO compliance because some employees feel like they were misled or lied to," says ResumeTemplates' Chief Career Strategist Julia Toothacre. "Instead of listening to what employees want, companies decided to rule with an iron fist, which resulted in a loss of trust. Employees want flexibility, and when left without a choice, it makes sense that some have decided to cheat the system to take care of their family or themselves."
The survey also indicates that employees who fail to comply with RTO policies face a range of consequences. According to the data, 21% of companies terminate non-compliant workers, 18% reduce their bonuses, and 12% adjust their salaries. Other reported penalties include reduced benefits (6%) and ridicule (7%). However, 41% of companies state that non-compliance carries no consequences.
This survey, launched September 26, 2024, included 713 U.S. business leaders. Among them, 600 completed the full survey. Participants were selected based on demographic criteria and screening questions. To view the complete report, please visit:
