Two communities recognized among America's best for second year in a row
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 5, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- National Church Residences is proud to announce that two of its Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs), First Community Village in Upper Arlington, Ohio, and Bristol Village in Waverly, Ohio, have been ranked among the top in the nation by Newsweek magazine for the second consecutive year. According to a recent national survey conducted by Newsweek in partnership with Statista, First Community Village secured the number 72 ranking nationally, while Bristol Village earned a spot at number 130. In addition to the national recognition, First Community Village is ranked number 3 and Bristol Village is ranked number 10 in Ohio among all CCRCs, reflecting on their exceptional services, amenities and overall quality of care.
"We are honored to have First Community Village and Bristol Village recognized once again among the best CCRCs in the country," said Senior Vice President of Operations at National Church Residences, Brianna Mettler. "This recognition is a testament to our commitment to providing outstanding care and services to older adults, ensuring they can age with dignity and in vibrant, engaging communities."
Today's older Americans lead more active and independent lifestyles than ever before. Continuing Care Retirement Communities like those offered by National Church Residences provide an array of services, enabling residents to receive the right level of assistance as their needs change over time. This continuity of care makes CCRCs an increasingly attractive option for retirees who seek a community that supports both their independence and evolving care requirements.
Located in the Columbus metro area, First Community Village is a well-established, dynamic community offering a wide range of living options, from spacious apartment floor plans to comfortable manor homes. Residents enjoy four distinct dining venues, numerous on-site amenities, and a variety of activities, including a salon, a barber shop, a movie theater, a wellness clinic, a state-of-the-art exercise center and a creative arts center. With fitness programs, spa services and even a wood shop, First Community Village offers an enriching environment that fosters an active, engaged lifestyle.
Nestled in the scenic rolling hills of southern Ohio, approximately 60 miles south of Columbus, Bristol Village is set on a 133-acre campus that features nearly 350 homes on tree-lined streets. The community boasts miles of paved walking paths and intimate parks, providing residents with a peaceful and natural setting. The 65,000 square-foot Glenn Activity Center offers an array of services and more than 50 resident-led activities throughout the year, making Bristol Village a lively and vibrant community where seniors can stay active and connected.
In 2024, Newsweek, in collaboration with the global research firm Statista, introduced the inaugural ranking of America's Best CCRCs. The 2025 rankings were based on two national online surveys conducted in August and September, gathering feedback from medical professionals, residents and their acquaintances. These survey results accounted for 70% of each community's score, down from 90% in 2024. Two new data sources—Accushield's Reputation Accelerator (15%) and Google reviews (5%)—contributed to the rankings, with CARF International accreditation accounting for 10%. A care level assessment score previously included in the 2024 rankings was omitted this year due to limited data availability.
Both First Community Village and Bristol Village represent National Church Residences' mission to provide exceptional care, services, and support to older adults, enabling them to live with independence, dignity and a sense of purpose.
