This multi-year initiative is designed to break down barriers and open the slopes to individuals with disabilities who never imagined skiing or snowboarding could be within their reach.
"Toyota Mountain of Dreams isn't just about getting people on the mountain—it's about making sure that no matter where someone is in their journey, they feel seen, supported and empowered," said Willie Ford, CEO of the NAC. "Our partnership with Toyota will open doors to new possibilities for the adaptive nation and help them feel a sense of belonging on the mountain."
At the core of this alliance is a commitment to transforming lives in the adaptive community through three key pillars: expanding access to on-mountain experiences, fostering deep community engagement and providing vital resources. Integral to the partnership, the inaugural Toyota Mountain of Dreams Mentorship Ski Clinic will take place on Friday, Feb. 14 at the , where participants will experience adaptive snowsports alongside Paralympian . The mentorship-driven clinic is just one component of this broader movement, pairing experienced adaptive athletes with newcomers to build confidence and break down barriers to participation. Beyond the slopes, this initiative creates lasting impact by offering scholarships, critical support systems and resources that empower individuals to pursue their passions.
"At Toyota, we believe in mobility for all and that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the thrill of the mountains—no matter the obstacles they face," said Dedra DeLilli, vice president of Toyota vehicle marketing and communications. "Through Toyota Mountain of Dreams, we're proud to partner with the National Ability Center to empower individuals with disabilities, helping them build confidence, push boundaries and discover their full potential on and off the slopes."
Leveraging its world-class facilities and industry success, including having provided lessons to 300,000 individuals and families over the last 40 years, the NAC and Toyota are currently developing additional activations and clinics, ways to get involved and year-round programming opportunities. Through Toyota Mountain of Dreams, individuals with disabilities will have the opportunity to redefine what's possible—turning "I never thought I could" into "I can, and I will."
"For children and young adults facing medical challenges that come from a cancer diagnosis and years of treatment, experiences like skiing and snowboarding can be life-changing and something that never would have been possible," said Devin Ryan-Holanda, vice president of camps and programs at Camp One Step. "Toyota Mountain of Dreams gives our campers the chance to push past perceived limits, gain confidence and find joy in the mountains.
