A war veteran battles alcoholism, suicidal thoughts, and the lasting scars of abuse
GONVICK, Minn., Jan. 7, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Forgiveness is often the hardest gift to give and receive, especially when forgiving oneself, a belief explored deeply in author Dr. Will Anderson's new book, "Last Chance Forgiveness: Lessons on Forgiveness".
In the book, readers meet Petty Officer William (Billy) Cole as he navigates trials and tribulations, learning to forgive others to receive God's forgiveness and, ultimately, to forgive himself.
Billy is a man struggling with alcoholism and suicidal thoughts as he grapples with the memories of an abusive childhood and trauma from his service in the Vietnam War. While living on the streets of Helena, Mont., he decides to take his own life, but as he stumbles into a church with a bottle of booze, something unexpected occurs. He meets a pastor who starts him on a path to healing.
"Billy was full of resentment, but as his journey unveiled, the transformative power of Christ's forgiveness not only changed his own life but impacted others as well," said Anderson, "Through Pastor Larson, he discovered his true purpose while finding love."
Anderson invites readers to reflect on their journeys and discover the healing and hope from letting go and trusting God's plan. Additionally, He emphasizes the influence of sharing personal stories of forgiveness, as Billy's journey illustrates. By openly communicating how faith and forgiveness shaped his life, Billy aims to inspire readers to begin their paths toward healing.
"By embracing the forgiveness offered by a loving God and learning to forgive ourselves, we can move forward into the blessed life he has designed for each of us," said Anderson.
