Gilbane moves its Albany office to further support economic development in the Capital Region
ALBANY, N.Y., Dec. 16, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Gilbane's new Albany office opened its doors for business on the fourth floor of 80 State Street. Amid the uptick of large construction projects in the Capital Region resulting in Gilbane's growing workforce, this strategic office relocation downtown will support the company to meet the increased demand for upstate New York construction management services.
"This move and expansion of our Albany operations comes at a vital time in our company history where we are celebrating 75 years of building in New York state," said Keith Leal, Vice President and Upstate New York Business Leader, Gilbane Building Company. "The Capital Region is a key part of Gilbane's focus in upstate New York with clients such as Siena College, Albany Port District Commission, State University Construction Fund, New York State Department of Health, University at Albany, and more. Gilbane is committed to supporting economic development in the region and we look forward to seeing Downtown Albany continue to thrive."
Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan said, "I am excited to welcome Gilbane to State Street, a truly huge win for Downtown Albany and the entire city. Bringing back the workforce into this area will help the city's economy and support the many local businesses that operate on State Street, Pearl Street, Broadway, and all those in between. Downtowns across the country have been impacted significantly by the pandemic and work from home policies; but here in Albany we are excited about the resurgence of our downtown thanks to the opening of the Clinton Market Collective, new local restaurants, shops, and gathering spots. I look forward to the prospect of more businesses following in the footsteps of Gilbane and returning their workforces to Downtown Albany."
Designed for functionality, the new, state-of-the-art office space offers a large conference room, open collaboration spaces, a coffee bar, a wellness room, huddle areas, and a training room for up to 30 people that includes an operable partition, allowing the space to open into the kitchen for expanded gatherings and conferences. There are glass-enclosed walls throughout to provide an open feel and light-filled space. To showcase Gilbane's core values, graphics, murals, and display walls featuring company history, culture, and local projects adorn the office.
Gilbane's New York business will complete over $960 million worth of work in 2024. Key recent and current projects across the state include the Port of Albany, NY State Life Sciences Public Health Laboratory, Buffalo AKG Art Museum, Empower Federal Credit Union Amphitheater at Lakeview, Buffalo Bills' New Highmark Stadium, Ralph Wilson Park, Olympic Regional Development Authority grounds at Lake Placid, and more.
