Since launching Fresh Coat Painters in 2022, Calero has combined her expertise with a commitment to community, exemplified by her project supporting families at Rainbow Village.
JOHNS CREEK, Ga., Jan. 9, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Since launching her Fresh Coat Painters business in June 2022, Isabel Calero has been focused on more than just delivering high-quality painting services. Her latest endeavor exemplifies her commitment to giving back to the community. Through Fresh Coat Cares, Calero is spearheading a project to revitalize the homes of families at Rainbow Village, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families in need.
Rainbow Village, based in Duluth, Georgia, offers a unique approach to breaking the cycle of poverty. Unlike many nonprofits that focus solely on women or children, Rainbow Village supports entire families. The organization provides housing, financial education, childcare and resources to help families regain stability. Calero first learned about Rainbow Village through LinkedIn and later connected with Michelle Alcorn, a representative from the organization, at a networking event hosted by the Duluth Business Association.
"She just told me that she was from Rainbow Village, and I was like, 'I would love to connect with you,'" Calero said. "So we met and she shared the whole story. She showed me the doors, and I was like, 'No, I definitely can help you with that.' I wanted to bring that opportunity to give back to the community."
The project involves repainting 30 doors across the homes in Rainbow Village. Volunteers had previously painted the doors, but as Calero explained, the work didn't meet Fresh Coat's professional standards. "We wanted to go back and help and give the families that are living in those homes something to be proud of getting back to their house and their doors painted really nicely."
Calero's journey with Fresh Coat Painters began when she and her husband, Diego, decided to combine their respective expertise. Diego's background in construction and Isabel's experience in sales provided a solid foundation for their business. "We have been in business since June 2022, and what got us into Fresh Coat was because my husband — he has a construction company, and we wanted to open a new side of the business," Calero said. "My background — I used to sell material equipment, Global Industrial — so I wanted to do something, start my own business being an entrepreneur, and also kind of join forces with him."
The couple found that Fresh Coat Painters offered the perfect balance of independence and corporate support.
Calero's involvement with Fresh Coat Cares has been a natural extension of her desire to give back. She emphasized the importance of community impact, both for her team and her family. "Everything I do is to show my children that you not only have to work hard but you also have to give back to the community, especially where you live. You want to make it a better place," she said. "I think it's not only an opportunity to help Rainbow Village but also to share with our family and definitely with the community that Fresh Coat is there to support."
The project comes with challenges, including coordinating schedules with families and addressing the condition of the existing doors. "The doors are red, and they were not painted with paint for doors, so there's going to be a little bit of work there where we're going to have to kind of scratch a little bit to make them work [and] look better," Calero said. Despite these obstacles, she remains optimistic and aims to complete the project in phases by the first quarter of 2025.
For Calero, the project is deeply personal. "One of the reasons why I want to give back to the community is because the community has given a lot to us as well," she said. "Coming from a different country, starting our lives here and becoming an entrepreneur to now being able to give back was quite a journey. I'm proud to be able to contribute to the community to make it a better place."
Through her work with Rainbow Village, Calero is not only improving the lives of families in need but also setting an inspiring example of community engagement and service. As she puts it, "We're definitely trying to give back to the community and participate."
