EFT awarded subcontract to support Sea Dragon Energy to develop technology for converting seawater COâ‚‚ into Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) under a $19.2M ONR project.
TULSA, Okla., Jan. 23, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Emerging Fuels Technology, Inc. (EFT) announced today that it has been awarded a subcontract to provide, under license, a pilot scale version of its proprietary Technology Platform as part of $19.2 million contract with the Office of Naval Research (ONR) to design and build a demonstration unit in Kona, Hawaii to exhibit the conversion of CO2 extracted from seawater into synthetic jet fuel.
EFT's system will process synthesis gas derived from COâ‚‚, which is extracted from seawater. The synthesis gas will be converted into synthetic jet fuel that meets the rigorous ASTM 7566 standards, ensuring compatibility with existing aviation infrastructure. Equipment delivery for the project is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025.
Mark Agee, Vice President of Business Development at EFT, commented: "We believe this project will be a significant milestone in advancing eFuel solutions through CO2 capture for both military and commercial applications. Our technical expertise and pilot facilities complement Sea Dragon's production processes, positioning us at the forefront of eFuel solutions worldwide. Projects like these represent an important advance in achieving American energy independence through Sustainable Fuels."
