1000 Coats Donated to Social Service Agencies Throughout Washington, DC Metro Area

WASHINGTON, Nov. 26, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Monday, CNN's Laura Coates and Comfort Cases' founder Rob Scheer joined forces to deliver 1000 new and gently used winter coats to social service agencies across the Washington, D.C., region. The coats were distributed immediately to local youth in foster care, offering warmth and comfort as the colder months set in.

The "Coats for a Cause" initiative, held in recognition of National Adoption Awareness Month, ran throughout November, culminating in National Adoption Day this past Saturday. November is a significant time in the foster care community, as it sees the highest number of adoptions annually.

"I am so overjoyed to have been able to partner with such an amazing organization like Comfort Cases to touch the lives of our young people in this way," said CNN's Laura Coates. "As a mother, I am so proud of the communities across this nation for coming together to wrap their arms around these incredible kids who need to know they are loved. The collected coats were presented to the following partner organizations for distribution to youth in foster care:

• National Center for Children and Families (Bethesda, MD)
• DC Child and Family Services Agency (Washington, DC)
• Fairfax County Department of Human Services (Fairfax, VA)

Donation boxes were placed at strategic locations throughout the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area, enabling community members to participate in this impactful effort. and its affiliated health plans, amplified the initiative's success by matching donations, contributing up to 300 additional coats, and significantly increasing the total number of donations.
